I’ve decided to make this blog a little less formal and talk more about actual play experience. The other day I got together with some old friends to play a few games.

Dominion
This is a great game. It is fast to play and always different each time. I do need to remind myself that it is worth investing in better gold early. I always get suckered in by the fun action cards when I should be improving my gold ratio first. I need to pick up the expansion so that I can play with up to 6 players; any game that requires 4 or fewer gets played a lot less with my friends.

Citadels
This one is a classic. I lost. I blame the time I picked emperor when I shouldn’t have. The game really is about not getting screwed over. So being predictable is a bad idea and I got greedy. I also tried to do a little too much persuasion, which worked against me. Keep quiet is the name of the game. Still, it was definitely fun.

Bang!
I don’t like this one as much as my friends do. It’s fun for a while and I don’t mind the randomness. A long game can drag too much though. I’m not sure I like the added expansion that gives a random event each round. It doesn’t really add that much to the game and slows things down. If you are out early in a large group, it can be a while before the game ends. So unless you are really into watching the game, you end up chatting with the other outlaw who died early instead.
